Tom Pohl was born on December 19, 1984 in Red Wing, Minnesota. Pohl joined the University of Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey team in 2004 for his freshman season. He is an energetic presence for the Gophers and one of six seniors on the roster.

Tom Pohl appeared in nine Gophers games in his junior season and was given the team’s Donald M. Clark Community Service Award as well as the John Mayasich Outstanding Student-Athlete Award. Pohl often frequented Minnesota’s fourth line.

Tom Pohl appeared in 18 gopher hockey games his sophomore season and recorded seven points with one goal. Pohl was the owner of a +5 rating. He had a two-game point streak from December 30 to January 7.

Tom Pohl played in 12 games his freshman year and scored two goals, both in important WCHA matchups. He scored his first career goal in the 7-2 win at Colorado College on December 4, 2004.

Tom Pohl played two seasons with the Tri-City Storm of the USHL. He posted 23 goals and 36 assists in 115 games. He was third on the team and 28th in the league in scoring in 2003-04 with 44 points on 16 goals in 60 games.

Tom Pohl played his prep hockey at Red Wing High School and finished 29th in the state in scoring with 54 points on 24 goals. He was named honorable mention all-state by the Pioneer Press.

Tom Pohl is majoring in an intercollege degree program of political science and marketing at the University of Minnesota. He enjoys politics and watching football. He is the son of Jim and Joanne Pohl.
