Patrick White was born on January 20, 1989 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He joined the University of Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey team in 2007 for his freshman season. The Gophers looked for White to be a dangerous offensive weapon from the forward position.
Patrick White played in all 45 games during his 2007-2008 freshman season. Patrick White led the Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey team with a plus-9 rating. Patrick White spread his 10 points over 9 games.
Patrick White played prep hockey at Grand Rapids High School, where he was a finalist for the 2007 Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award. His senior season saw him score 49 points on 18 goals in 30 games. White was named AP and Pioneer Press first team all-state and Duluth News Tribune first team all-area. Patrick White was selected with the 25th overall pick in the first round by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Patrick White plans to be a management major at the University of Minnesota. He enjoys golf and spending time at the lake - a true Minnesotan. White’s most memorable hockey moment is playing in the high school state tournament twice.
