*** TRANSFERRED TO MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY - MANKATO *** After playing in only 2 of 16 games with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, Mike Dorr decided he would have more playing time opportunities with the Minnesota State University Mavericks team.
Freshman Mike Dorr attended Roseville Area High School in Roseville, Minnesota before playing his 2007-2008 senior year with Des Moines in the USHL.
Mike Dorr was a 2007 Minnesota Mr. Hockey finalist to recognize his achievements during his high school career. He was also named as the Star Tribune 2007 Player of the Year.
Over the course of Mike Dorr's years with Roseville Area High School, he racked up an impressive 176 points. However, the team always fell short of a state berth, a disappointment that partially propelled Dorr to attend Des Moines.
Mike Dorr's older siblings, Sam and Franny, both had appearances in the hockey state tournament and went on to college level play. Although Mike Dorr originally committed to the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in 2006, he realized that the location and coaching staff of the Minnesota Gophers hockey team would better suit his needs. The Golden Gophers hockey team expects great things from Mike Dorr and he promises to rise to - and exceed- the challenge.
