John Hill is the Assistant and Defensive Coach for the Minnesota Gophers.

John Hill is entering his sixth year in his second stint as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota in 2010-11. From 2001-05, John Hill was the head coach at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Before Alaska Anchorage, Hill spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Minnesota in head coach Don Lucia’s first two years at Minnesota.

As a player, John Hill led the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves to a 23-6-1 record in 1983-84, and recordedd a total of 121 points in 4 years. He began a short professional stint in 1985-86 with the Virginia Lancers of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League, earning second-team ACHL all-star honors.
