Jay Barriball
Jay Barriball was born on May 27, 1987 in Prior Lake, Minnesota. He joined the University of Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey team in 2006 for his freshman season. Barriball was the Gophers leading returning scorer after his freshman year. Jay Barriball was one of only five Gophers to appear in all 44 games his freshman season. He was first on the team in scoring with 43 points on 20 goals. Barriball was second in the WCHA and fourth in the nation in freshman scoring. He was also tied for the team lead with 12 multi-point games and three multi-goal games. He helped his team whenever he was on the ice with a +15 rating. During Jay Barriball's 2007-2008 sophomore season, he played right wing on the team’s first and second lines and appeared in 41 games. Jay Barriball racked up six goals and 15 assists for 21 points. Due to an ankle injury, Jay Barriball sat out the final 3 games of the regular season, but came back for the first round of playoffs. After his season, Jay Barriball earned his second letter with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey team. Jay Barriball played his prep hockey at the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, Minnesota, where he had 66 points on 28 goals in only 25 games. Barriball finished as a Minnesota Mr. Hockey finalist. The explosive forward finished fifth in the state in scoring with 81 points on 32 goals in his junior season. He played a season with the Sioux Fall stampede of the USHL following his senior year. Jay Barriball was drafted by the San Jose Sharks with the 203rd pick in the seventh round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Jay Barriball enjoys baseball, playing cards and spending time at the cabin.
