Evan Kaufmann was born on October 31, 1984 in Plymouth, Minnesota. He joined the University of Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey team in 2004 for his freshman season. He is one of six seniors on the Gophers roster for 2007-08.

Evan Kaufmann appeared in 32 games in his junior campaign. He had 17 points and 11 goals on the year. His season was shortened 10 games due to knee injuries. Kaufman had a +4 rating on the year, and won 58.9 percent of his faceoffs, making him one of the Gophers quickest faceoff takers.

Evan Kaufmann played in 40 games in his sophomore year and scored 13 points on five goals. Kaufmann performed well on faceoffs, winning 53.7 of them. Kaufmann also owned a +5 rating.

Evan Kaufmann played in 30 games his freshman season, including the season’s final 20 games. Kaufmann finished the season with 13 points on seven goals, including two game-winning goals. Kaufmann finished tied for second on the team in rookie goal scoring.

Evan Kaufmann played for one season with the River City Lancers of the USHL, where he had 20 goals and 30 assists in 60 games. The talented forward played his prep hockey at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, where he was high school teammates with fellow Gopher Derek Peltier. Kaufmann finished 26th in the state in scoring with 55 points and 29 goals in 25 games. Kaufmann also lettered in tennis at Armstrong.

Evan Kaufmann is an accounting major at the University of Minnesota. He is the son of Farley and Karen Kaufmann.
