Christian Isackson is from Pine City, Minnesota. He went to high school at St. Thomas Academy and played club hockey with the Sioux Falls Stempede of the USHL.

In the 2010-11 season, Isackson led the Stampede in scoring during the regular season with 44 points. Isackson also played prep hockey for St. Thomas Academy under Greg Vannelli, where he was a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award.

Christian Isackson came to the Minnesota Gophers in the 2011-12 season as a freshman.
