Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild is the NHL ice hockey team based out of the city of St. Paul, Minnesota. The Wild was founded in 2000 and it plays its games out of the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. The Minnesota Wild plays in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference.

The Minnesota Wild was the announced team name in 1998. Other possible team names suggested were the Minnesota Blue Ox, Minnesota Freeze, Minnesota Northern Lights, Minnesota Voyageurs and Minnesota White Bears. The name "Minnesota Wild" was unveiled at Aldrich Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Minnesota WildThe Minnesota Wild's first ever NHL draft choice was Marian Gaborik, who is currently the Wild's superstar and best player althought the Wild regularly have a full strong roster. In only its third season since inception, the Minnesota Wild made the NHL playoffs and performed remarkably well. It defeated the Vancouver Canucks and the Colorado Avalanche en route to a date with the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference Finals. The Wild succumbed to the Ducks four games to zero.

Another playoff push from the Minnesota Wild came in the 2006-07 season when the Wild team finished with its best ever record and points total. The Wild had a series with the Anaheim Ducks in the first round, but couldn't overcome the Ducks' physicality. Goalies Josh Harding and Niklas Backstrom are bright spots for the Wild during this season. They are currently battling out in the 2007-08 season for the starting Minnesota Wild goalie job.

The Minnesota Wild currently sits in third place in the Western Conference NHL standings through 45 games in the season. The Wild will most likely make the playoffs once again this season, despite the log jam atop the NHL Western Conference. If the Wild can win its division, it could host a home playoff series at the Xcel Energy Center. If the Wild can pull that off, Minnesota Wild tickets will be a must buy.

The Minnesota Wild NHL are a hot hot ticket in the Twin Cities. Minnesota Hockey fans rush to the Xcel Energy Center St Paul to see the Minnesota Wild live. Buy Wild tickets from a local hockey company. We love Gopher hockey and Minnesota Wild hockey!
