Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota Timberwolves are part of the National Basketball Association NBA and are based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Timberwovles basketball team plays their home games at Target Center Minneapolis in front of howling Wolves fans.

The Minnesota Timberwolves played their first game on November 3, 1989, losing to the Seattle Supersonics on the road 106-94. The Minnesota Timberwolves struggled through early ineptitude like many other NBA expansion teams. It wasn't until 1995, when the team drafted Kevin Garnett, the first high school player to jump straight to the NBA since Moses Malone. Within years, Kevin Garnett flourished into an NBA superstar and interest in the Minnesota Timberwolves grew exponentially.

In 1996, the Minnesota Timberwolves drafted another future NBA superstar in Stephon Marbury. The following year, the Timberwolves team would make the NBA playoffs and perform well, going up 2-1 on the Seattle Supersonics before losing in Game 5 of the series.

The next chapter in the Minnesota Timberwolves history involved acquiring volatile guards Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell. Minnesota TimberwolvesAcquired for the 2003-04 season, the backcourt tandem helped Kevin Garnett reach the playoffs and advance past the first round for the first time. The Wolves beat the Denver Nuggets and the Sacramento Kings before losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

After this tremendous high for the Minnesota Timberwolves, they would not make the NBA playoffs again. Sentiments that Kevin Garnett was not the answer for the Timberwolves organization began to circulate. In the Timberwolves 2007 off-season, the Wolves finally cut ties with Kevin Garnett, trading him for Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair and Ryan Gomes from the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics trade was a defining deal in the Timberwolves history. The face of the Minnesota Timberwolves had undergone a complete change.

The 2007-08 season has been disappointing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as they only have five wins through 35 games. Al Jefferson leads the way, but his efforts aren't enough with an inadequate supporting cast akak Timberwolves roster aka Timberwolves bench. The Minnesota Timberwolves still have a core group of basketball fans in Minnesota, yet Timberwovles tickets for games have never had lower market value. So get your Minnesota Timberwolves tickets now while they are cheap.
