HHH Metrodome

The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome Minneapolis opened in April, 1982, replacing the old Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota to make way for the Mall of America. The Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings both played their regular season home schedule at the old Met but both teams moved into the HHH Metrodome in 1982. The Minnesota Twins have since moved to the Target Field, located in the Warehouse District, as of Fall 2009.  HHH Metrodome tickets are a hot sell in the Twin Cities!

The Metrodome was named after former U.S. Senator and U.S. Vice President, Hubert Humphrey, who died in 1978. The Metrodome is located on a 20 acre site in east downtown Minneapolis. Metrodome construction began in 1979 and was paid for by the state of Minnesota for $68 million. It is the only air-supported structure among the 28 domes in use.

Besides the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings playing their schedules at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome, the University of Minnesota Gopher football team did too, until the TCF Bank Stadium was finished in Fall 2009. The 1989-90 Minnesota Timberwolves also played their home games at the Metrodome while the Target Center was being built. The Metrodome has hosted the World Series in 1987 and 1991, baseball's All-Star Game in 1985, Super Bowl XXVI in 1992 and the NCAA Final Four Basketball Tournament in 1992 and 2001.

Metrodome seating for football and playoff baseball is approximately 45,000. The Metrodome has 7,600 retractable seats in right field that are pulled out for football games. In 2004, the Metrodome turf was replaced by Field Turf, a new artificial turf that more resembles grass. Seating in the Metrodome was increased in 1994 by moving the dugouts closer to the field and adding three rows closer to the field level.

Opposing teams that come into the Metrodome to play the Minnesota Vikings battle extremely loud crowd noise, and often commit false start penalties due to the Metrodome crowd noise. Metrodome fans feel like they can actually have an effect on the outcome of the game they are spectators of. There is Metrodome seating for 45,000 in the dome, but don't wait to get your Metrodome tickets to a Minnesota Vikings game. The best Metrodome tickets always go fast, and they go even faster when the teams are winning.  HHH Metrodome tickets sell quickly!
