If you want to see the Gophers hockey team this February, you only have one weekend!

That's right, one chance to the see the maroon and gold at Mariucci Arena. The Gophers host Colorado College Tigers on February 19 and 20.

The Gophers hockey team split their weekend series against the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves winning on Friday 7-4 and then losing Saturday night 2-1. The Gophers are in 7th place in the WCHA and only have a few more games to improve their standing.

It's worth noting that Minnesota will not travel to Alaska next season when the WCHA adds Nebraska-Omaha and Bemidji State. The Alaska Seawolves will travel to Mariucci Arena for the only series of the season as the new 12-team league begins its unbalanced schedule.

The Gophers have the upcoming weekend off before traveling to Denver for a two game series on February 12th and 13th.

It was a tough weekend for Gophers hockey fans as St Cloud State beat the Gopher men 4-3 on Friday night in St Cloud and 4-1 on Saturday night in Minneapolis.

The Golden Gophers hockey team put 43 shots on goal, but couldn't manage to squeeze enough past the St Cloud State goalie.

It was another sold out Mariucci Arena game as Gopher fans and St Cloud State Huskies fans were eager to cheer their team to victory.

Unfortunately, the Gophers loss puts the Gopher hockey team further out of contention in the WCHA with a 7-9-2 conference record. The Golden Gophers hockey team plays their next four games on the road, beginning with a two-game series at Alaska Anchorage next weekend.

The Golden Gophers hockey team took on arch rival North Dakota Fighting Sioux Friday night and Saturday night at Mariucci Arena. Friday night the teams tied 3-3, but Saturday night the Gophers team showed up ready to play and beat the Sioux 5-1 in front of the second largest paid attendance in Mariucci Arena history.

"It was a real good effort by our club this weekend," Gophers head coach Don Lucia said of the blowout win and getting a tie in the series opener. "We'll take the three points and look forward to St. Cloud next weekend."
